MSA member since:10/12/10

Why did you join the MSA?

I was hoping to establish a 5K Turkey Trot race in EG. The MSA welcomed the idea and we worked together to bring what is now a Thanksgiving Weekend Tradition to East Greenwich.

Favorite MSA event(s)?

The Turkey Trot! I also love Chalk the Block/Arts on Main and the outdoor movies.

Favorite EG restaurant or shop?

I love shopping locally and love that our community has so many wonderful shops and restaurants. I probably frequent The Savory Grape and Sweet Twist the most, but certainly, enjoy shopping at the other shops as well!

Why did you join the MSA?

I joined when the Planning Board started the Downtown Planning Initiative, a precursor to the MSA. I had lived in East Greenwich for a couple years, and, living on Main Street, I wanted to become involved to see how I could assist in improving the area.

Favorite MSA event(s)?

My favorite event is the Outdoor Movie on Academy Field. It is a great event for families that has a very good community feel, especially during the time before the movie plays as people arrive and see their friends and neighbors. Kids especially seem to enjoy the event, maybe as much before the movie starts when they play with their friends as during the movie.

Favorite EG restaurant or shop?

My favorite restaurant is either La Masseria or Red Stripe. My wife and I really enjoy La Masseria, where I usually try different things and my wife reliably orders the pasta with grandmother’s sauce. There will be competition for our favorite now that Red Stripe has moved to town. We have gone to Wayland Square location several times, so we are excited that we can now walk to a Red Stripe.

Why did you join the MSA?

I joined because I was interested in all of the events that went on in the town I loved living in. I wanted to know more about these events, and all that goes into putting them on, so I was invited to go to a meeting to see how it all works. Once I met the members and felt the energy, I wanted to be a part of the MSA.

Favorite MSA event(s)?

Definitely, the outdoor movie, since I organize that. The Turkey Trot is a lot of fun, seeing the whole community out, families enjoying each other is the best.

Favorite EG restaurant or shop?

So many restaurants have a great vibe & prepare delicious food, but I have to say my favorite is Siena – the bolognese is ridiculous! The Green Door is my favorite place to shop; the gifts are unique and special. I always feel welcome when I shop there.

Why did you join the MSA?

I joined the MSA because I had heard about all the wonderful things they did in East Greenwich. Michelle Clark and I wanted to start an annual 5K Turkey Trot in town and we felt this was the best avenue to accomplish this. With all the member support and Town support, we started and have maintained what has become a wonderful tradition for the town.

Favorite MSA event(s)?

Due to my involvement, the Turkey Trot has become my favorite MSA event. It has become a wonderful tradition not only for my family but many families here in East Greenwich. We have raised thousands of dollars to help support local organizations and we have inspired non-runners and runners alike to get out for a wonderful day of physical activity.

Favorite EG restaurant or shop?

I love to eat at both Rasa and Besos, and Red Stripe is a wonderful addition. The local shops like Sweet Twist or Green Door never disappoint, and of course, the expertise, selection, and warming environment of the Savory Grape round out the perfect day in East Greenwich.

Why did you join the MSA?

I joined in an effort to further integrate myself with the evolution and growth of the town I grew up and live in, and to create meaningful relationships with residents and businesses.

Favorite MSA event(s)?

I absolutely love the Main Street Association events and efforts which focus on the encouragement of health and well-being such as the Turkey Trot.

Favorite EG restaurant or shop?

I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite restaurant or shop, but quite simply enjoy the diversity of the businesses and products which continue to blossom and improve our standard of life.

Why did you join the MSA?

When we relocated from Indiana and I wanted to become involved in the community. I noticed that many of the events that we attended were sponsored by the Main Street Association. It is exciting to feel a part of East Greenwich.

Favorite MSA event(s)?

My favorite event is the movie nights. I love standing on the top of the hill and seeing all the blankets and lawn chairs stretched out waiting for the movie to begin. What a fun way to spend time with family and friends!

Favorite EG restaurant or shop?

There are things I love about all the restaurants the shops. The quality and convenience are amazing. Back to Basics carries many of the allergy-friendly foods we have a hard time finding elsewhere and a visit to The Troll Shop is an actual treasure hunt!

Why did you join the MSA?

In 2012, as new residents with roots in East Greenwich and RI, we knew we were putting down roots of our own. Learning about the MSA and recognizing the potential of East Greenwich, my wife and I volunteered hoping to contribute our experience, knowledge, and time to our community.

Favorite MSA event(s)?

Summer Outdoor Movie, Turkey Trot, and our direct contributions to the Odeum.

Favorite EG restaurant or shop?

Food – Rasa! Siena! Red Stripe! Raw Bob!
Shop – POP (on Duke St.), Civil, and the Farmers Market.

Become a volunteer

Many of our MSA events require help with planning, execution, clean-up, etc. Becoming a volunteer means that you can help when you have the time, but can’t necessarily make a “full time” commitment to the MSA.
